There was a lot of crying out in the hallway.  I thought it was still John until I saw some lady dragging a little girl into our room.  Boy, that girl sure was upset!  Her feet, legs, and bottom were outside the room, but her mom pulled her by the hands so that her top half was inside.
That mom finally got her inside.  And, you know what?  That girl sat down on her mom’s foot and hugged her leg.  I guess that crying girl really didn’t want to be in Kindergarten.
Then, I noticed that the mom was scooting her leg with the girl on it over by me.  Oh no!  That girl’s chair was the empty one beside me!  Kindergarten suddenly seemed a whole lot noisier.

"Matthew, what’s stuck?”
 “My nose,” I said stuffy-like.
“Oh, my!” she said.  Then, she turned to the other kids and said, “Class, please start working on your coloring papers.”
“Matthew, how on earth did you do this?” she asked opening the cage and putting her hand in.
“I was just trying to see that gray furrball better,” I said looking at her with one eyebulb.  The other one only saw a black stick.
“Okay.  I’m going to squeeze and push your nose out from the inside.  And, I want you to take a deep breath and pull.  Ready now?” she asked.
I shook my head, ‘yes’.  But, you know what?  It hurted to do that.  So, I stopped shaking real fast.
“Okay, go!” she said pinching my nose.
I knew if my nose fell off this time, Mrs. Holbrook would have it instead of those silly furrballs.  So, I pulled real hard.  And, you know what?  It popped right out of there.  And, it even stayed on my face!

Book III

Matthew is still learning more and more about school life and being a child of God. In these funny adventures, he learns about initials and how to play soccer.  But, what does he do when he really gets mad?

Now I was past frustrated. I was mad! Those kids made me forget about wiggling my loose tooth. Now it’ll never come out today.
Some of them were still singing, “Mad. Mad. Mad.” They just kept getting louder and louder.
So, I stood up on top of my desk and turned around. I put my hands on my hips, just like Jayden, and yelled, “I WAS NOT MAD THEN, BUT I AM NOW!”
“And, so am I,” came a voice from behind me. I was pretty sure it was Mrs. Holbrook at the door.
I gulped a really big gulp. And then, I pretended I was an ice cube and froze. I didn’t even move my eyebulbs anymore.
And, you know what? I think that I’m in trouble.

"Okay.  But, Daddy?” I called.  I still had more to say to that man.
     “Yes, Matthew?”
“Wanna know my really, really most secret wish?”                                                                          He gave a deep breath and then walked back to my bed.  “What would that be my big singer?”
“Put your ear to my mouth, and I’ll tell you,” I whispered.
He leaned way down close to my mouth, and I whispered into his ear.  “I wish that Ed was real.”
Daddy looked surprised when he sat up straight again.  But then he said, “That would be great, wouldn’t it?  But, don’t you think it might be hard to take care of a lion in the house?  How would we feed it?  Where would it sleep?”
“Oh, he could sleep with me like he always does,    and I’d learn how to feed him.  Lions probably like to eat everything, don’t you think Daddy?”
“Yeah, I think they do, Buddy.  I think they probably eat anything they want.”
